Man stands trial for defiling his own mother in Ekiti State

A 27 year old man, Akintunde Omoteinde, is currently standing trial for allegedly defiling his own mother. According to a report by Punch, the sick incident happened on August 23 at their residence at the Ajebamidele area of Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State.

Her attorney says that Lauryn Hill was released from prison a few days early for good behavior and will now be confined to her home for three months as part of a 1-year probation period.

Sultan Announces October 15 As Eid-el-Kabir

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, on Sunday announced Tuesday Oct. 15 as Eid-el-Kabir.

A statement issued in Sokoto by Prof. Sambo Wali, the Chairman of Sokoto Sultanate Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, said this followed the sighting of the crescent from across the country on Saturday.

"This is sequel to the declaration of Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, as the first day of Zul-Hijja, 1434 AH, by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III.

"The sultanate advisory committee on religious affairs at its meeting on Saturday, Oct. 5, received reports from various moon sighting committees across the country confirming the sighting of the new Moon of Zul-Hijja,1434 AH, on Saturday, which was the 29th day of ZulKi'ida,1434 AH,'' the statement said.

NAN reports that Eid-el-Kabir is celebrated world wide on the 10th of Zul-Hijja, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, and is marked by the slaughtering of ram after a special morning prayer.

It comes a day after pilgrims from across the globe converge on mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has suspended the operations of Associated Airlines, following the ill-fated crash that occurred on Thursday October 3rd, which killed 13 passengers.

NCAA announced the suspension yesterday Saturday October 5th via it's Director-General, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu. He said;

“Associated Airlines operations have been suspended by the NCAA. Let me say for the purpose of clarity, I said their operations, I mean all their operations of Associated Airline have been suspended by the NCAA. I did not say any certification was cancelled but all operations.”

Capt Akinkuotu explained that the suspension of the airline is to pave the way for ongoing probe into the cause of the crash.

Federal Government suspends Dana Air license again

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the operations of Dana Air...again. The suspension was announced on Sunday night October 6th by the Coordinating General Manager for the aviation parastatals, Mr. Yakubu Dati.

The NCAA said it shut Dana’s operations to enable it conduct an operational audit of the carrier and its planes. This suspension makes it the third time the NCAA would ground Dana Air over safety and other related issues since the crash of Dana flight 992 that killed over 150 passengers in June 2012.

John Dumelo donates supplies to deprived school in Cameroon

Ghanaian leading man, John Dumelo donated school supplies including pencils, chalks, erasers and exercise books to over 100 pupils of St. John Of God Catholic School in Cameroon, via his John Dumelo Foundation. The school, located in a town called Bonadikombo, around where the actor had been filming, also got an unspecified amount of money to help in running the school.

John Dumelo visited Cameroon right after his short trip to the US, and he was in the coastal town of Limbe where he shot a movie as well as part of his upcoming reality TV show. He promised to go back to help renovate the school building. More photos below...

9 year old boy hops plane to Vegas, alone and without ticket

A 9 year old boy did the unthinkable in the US last week; he went through airport security with other passengers, and hopped on a flight to Las Vegas on his own without a plane ticket.

The Transportation Security Administration officials said they are still trying to figure out how he did it. CNN reports

Patrick Hogan, a spokesman for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, said the crew of Delta Flight 1651 "became suspicious of the child's circumstances" during the flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas. Crew members got in touch with authorities in Las Vegas and turned the boy over to Child Protective Services, Hogan said in a statement.
