Did you write exams in school in these big words?

 I used such words very-very freely in my exams both at the secondary school and in my university and little wonder I had the misfortune of my English results being seized intermittently in my O’ Levels.
WAEC released my results for the other subjects and withheld my English result. This happened for about three years. Twice, I passed the University Matriculation Examination but I could not proceed to the University because of my English results that were not released. At the end of the day, it was released after the third attempt.

Why do you always speak ‘big grammar’?

I am not really consensus ad idem with those who opine that my idiolect is advertently obfuscative. No no no, it’s just that I am in my elements when the colloquy has to do with the pax nigeriana of our dreams and one necessarily needs to fulminate against the alcibiadian modus vivendi of our prebendal political class.

How do you talk to your wife, children and even your friends?

 I relate with my family and friends very warmly and in an atmosphere of camaraderie, stripped of my confutational habiliment and gladiatorial homilies. I am a very peaceful, calm, level-headed and celestially attuned soul personality.

 Is this the way you proposed to your wife, speaking high tech grammar?

 Of course, the business of the day when I interfaced with my wife on matters of the heart had to be in plain Caeser’s language and you can decipher why that had to be so. The matter in view did not permit itself of sphinxian conundrum.

  Do you know that many people don’t take you too seriously when you talk because they think you are not communicating

Why will I be perturbed from ensconcing myself in the palatable arms of Morpheus because people have deprived themselves of the cultivation of the regime of the mental magnitude? I read all the farrago of baloneys and vacuous bunkum from pepper soup objurgators. The spirit of animadversion remains their fundamental human right. It also remains an indubitable fact that I get millions and millions of requests daily from people all over the world requesting for my verbal mentorship which positive cosmopolitan reactions have assisted my equipoise and righteous sense of pachydermatous garb. I cannot put my nose to the grindstone daily and expect to be understood by those luxuriating in a modus vivendi, verging on pepper souping, goat heading, suyaing, big stouting and isiewulising. Has a philosophical wag not once pontificated that things of the spirit are spiritually discerned and that it takes the deep to call the deep?  Why do you pull your trousers up beyond the waist?

Hahahaha….That trousers style is called Yohji Yamamoto. It was my own audacious statement to remonstrate against the pervasive tendency of Nigerians especially our youths that took to the practice of putting on trousers exposing their lower anatomical contours and I will do it over and over again

Before he met his waterloo some months ago, 30-year-old Hope Olusegun Aroke lived in the elite 1004 Housing Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Aroke, an undergraduate in a Malaysian university, had the world at his beck and call, as he could afford just about anything that meant class.For him, provision was probably just another successful scam away. And the race to maintain the social status that fraud had allegedly earned him could never end.

In his garage was a fleet of posh cars and SUVs, all of Mercedes-Benz brand. Though a tenant, he successfully outshone the status of his co-residents.To many, the young man had done well for himself by a dint of hard work.In some sense, Aroke was working hard, but as a suspected serial scammer.His busy neighbours barely noticed his unusual schedule, but many were irked by his exceptional flamboyant lifestyle.

Most times, when neighbours were out to work, Aroke stayed indoor in company with other young men, who were later discovered to be his fraud cell suspects.These young men included his apprentices and internet scam partners.The operation that marred Aroke’s merry-making living would have shot up his net worth by several notches.

Going by the revelation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, he had successfully carried out the scam operations worth N55m on unsuspecting members of the public. He, however, became unfortunate while trying to conceal the nature of the proceeds by converting it to foreign currency in partnership with Ibrahim Tafida, a Bureau de Change operator.

He was eventually nabbed by the team of the EFCC in Lagos.

Last year, 25-year-old Sunkanmi Odewale, a 200-level undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, a suspected fraudster, breezed into an automart and bought a Toyota Venza for N4m.

Before, he was picked up in Ibadan, Oyo State, three months ago, he was alleged to be notorious for regularly swindling unsuspecting members of the public via the internet.

His N4m Toyota Venza was the latest of his collections of luxury toys allegedly acquired from the proceeds of cyber crimes.He, however, forfeited it and other valuables worth millions, which were seized during the arrest.

The EFCC said he was currently facing prosecution.

During some sting operations based on internet-prompted information, the EFCC recently arrested another five suspected fraudsters in Enugu State.

They are: 27-year-old Uche Nwakor; 30-year-old Oluchukwu Ejikeme; 28-year-old Ifeanyi Ejikeme; 30-year-old Nnamani Ikechukwu; and Ibe Kodili.
They were arrested at their expensive houses at No 26 and 42, Chimaobi Uba Street, GRA, EnuguThe team is said to be “serial scammers,” having defrauded several victims.

Items seized from them where they were perfecting how to get the next victim are: eight exotic cars, nine laptops, 21 mobile phones, internet routers, drivers’ licenses and international passports.

Two months ago, the game was over for notorious internet fraudster, Wale Olaide, who specialised in defrauding members of the public through bank credit alerts.Popularly called Wale Dollar in his clique, he had great tentacles as his business transversed the shores of Nigeria.

Although he had successfully executed bigger deals, which had earned him a comfortable life, he came crashing over a N5m deal involving two brothers Abdulhamid Abubakar, based in Nigeria and Hashim Abubakar based in Togo. They are both into BDC business.

Under the pretext that he wanted to do genuine business with them, he contacted the Togo-based operator, asking for his Nigerian bank account number, which he authorised his brother to give him. Olaide was supposed to pay in N5m to purchase the CFA Francs equivalent.

But when he got the account details, rather than send the money as agreed, he sent a false credit alert notifying the BDC operators that his account had credited at the Seme border branch and so he released the equivalent to him.

He was shocked to find out the next day that his bankers couldn’t trace such payments made into his account.

The EFCC said it took investigative initiative to arrest Olaide, who it described as “a member of the deadly syndicate involved in duping unsuspecting members of the public.”

It described fraudulent credit banking notification as a new trend in criminality by fraudsters and warned the public to be careful.

The EFCC Ag. Head, Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, told Saturday PUNCH that it was not in the character of fraudsters to buy lands or build houses.He said, “They seldom even buy houses or have permanent addresses because of the nature of their activities. They often spend money on exotic cars, throw parties and generally squander the money on things that are not fixed. All the people arrested for such crimes are usually made to face the law.”

Uwujaren said there were signs that could put one on the guard. “If for instance somebody you have never met in person begins to pester you about your personal banking details online, chances are that the person may be a potential scammer.

World Cup qualifying: Frank Lampard says England can deny 'strong' Ukraine

Frank Lampard says Ukraine are "strong" but is sure the England team that lines up in Kiev for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier can get a result.

England drew 1-1 with Ukraine came when they came to London last September and Lampard knows he and his team-mates will have to improve on that Wembley display this week.
"They had a bad start to the group but against us they played with a lot of talent, they have a lot of technical ability and pace on the wings," Lampard told a press conference on Sunday.

"We'll go there conscious they're a strong team but confident in our own abilities. We've got the team to get a result, no doubt."

"It's a big blow. He's started the season well and he's a very talented player," said Lampard of Welbeck.
"I've enjoyed watching him for Man United and he scored two goals the other night, but we've got players who can come in and do the same job.
"With Theo Walcott, Raheem Sterling, Ashley Young and James Milner, we've got a lot of depth on the wings."

England lead Group H on goal difference from Montenegro, with Ukraine only a point behind and Poland five points adrift.
Lampard said: "We were very aware it was a tough group from the outset.

European Masters: Thomas Bjorn beats Craig Lee in play-off at Crans-sur-sierre

Thomas Bjorn claimed a 14th victory of his career as he beat Craig Lee in a play-off at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.

Bjorn produced a superb final round of 65, six-under par, to finish on 20-under for the tournament after starting his round with eight one-putts on the greens.
Lee finished with a 61 on Saturday but could not quite conjure up more of that magic and although he was bogey-free he carded a 67 to also finish on 20-under.

The 36-year-old Scotsman was looking for his maiden win on the European Tour and on the last had a 20-foot putt to claim the title at the picturesque Crans-sur-Sierre course high up in the Alps.
Lee's putt looked in all the way but just burnt the edge of the hole and stayed above ground to ensure he had to trudge back to the 18th tee for the play-off with Bjorn.
Both man made the green in regulation, but after Lee again had a narrow miss, Bjorn sank his effort to claim his 14th victory - and the Dane's first since 2011 when he also won at Crans-sur-Sierre.

"It was nice I needed it really I had a really good run through the summer and never really got close to winning so I needed to try and get a win again under my belt," Bjorn told Sky Sports.

Thomas Bjorn held-off the threat of Craig Lee to win the Omega European Masters.

"I came here not playing the best but I told myself that I was going to keep playing golf the way I know I want to play and it was nice to finally get over the line.
"It was great to win the play-off because I've been having a hard time lately dealing with pressure situations and there's no bigger pressure situation than a play-off."

Lewis Hamilton admits 'that's that' for his 2013 title hopes after Italian GP 'disaster'

Lewis Hamilton has conceded defeat in this year's World Championship after a 'disastrous' Italian GP weekend.

Just two races after emerging as an unlikely title contender with his maiden victory for the Mercedes team at Hungary, the 2008 World Champion has fallen 81 points behind Sebastian Vettel with just seven events remaining. Cue the white flag.
"Obviously that's that for the championship," a forlorn Hamilton admitted after trailing home in a lowly ninth.

He deserved better. Although the result told a different tale, Hamilton was arguably the driver of the race as he overcame a strategy-wrecking slow puncture and the considerable inconvenience of a broken radio to fight his way back into a points-scoring position.
"It almost blinds you," Hamilton said of his radio failure which meant he was late to stop for both of his two visits to the pitlane for new tyres.
"You don't know what's happening in the race, you don't know when to stop - even spotting the pitboard is confusing because there are so many pitboards - and you don't know when to push and when not to push. It just meant it was much more than me, but I managed."
So well, in fact, that Hamilton ended the grand prix boasting the fastest lap of the race, but the damage had been done in qualifying when the Mercedes driver failed to reach the top-ten shoot-out for the first time in three years.
Oh what might have been. "We clearly saw in the race that he had the speed," noted Sky F1's Anthony Davidson. "What a shame."

Angry Fernando Alonso accuses press of 'trying to create tension' at Ferrari

Fernando Alonso has accused the media of "trying to create tension" between himself and Ferrari in the wake of the latest furore that engulfed the Scuderia at Monza.

The state of the Spaniard's relationship with his team was once again firmly put in the spotlight at the Scuderia's home grand prix on Saturday after radio messages revealed that Alonso had sarcastically referred to his team as "geniuses" during qualifying.
Although Alonso later admitted using the phrase, he insisted it wasn't related to Ferrari's seemingly badly-executed slipstreaming tactics with Felipe Massa and it "should not raise any doubts about the impeccable job from the whole team".

With the incident nonetheless prompting fresh speculation over the current atmosphere inside Ferrari heading into race day, Alonso impressively rebounded to produce a strong drive to second place on Sunday - a performance which was warmly received by the home crowd when he appeared on the podium, while the Spaniard's perennial rival Sebastian Vettel in contrast, who won the race at a canter, was roundly booed.
Asked in the post-race press conference if the Tifosi's support had made him feel better about the situation created after qualifying, Alonso took the opportunity to go on the offensive and point the finger at the Italian press for trying to unsettle the team.
"Yesterday it was the third or fourth consecutive race some people tried to create some tension between the team and the drivers," the double World Champion said.
"Then we come to the press conference, we explain everything but obviously this doesn't sell so many newspapers, the normality.

"Every time that I go out of the airport, the hotel, home, everywhere, here in Italy it's a huge support [from the tifosi] and huge love from them and me to them as well and to the team. We keep repeating this and we saw today on the podium that maybe not many of them read the newspapers in the morning luckily."
The increasing focus on the Alonso-Ferrari relationship has added further intrigue to the Scuderia's deliberations over their second driver for 2014, with increasingly strong rumours suggesting they are considering re-signing Kimi Raikkonen.
Any return to Maranello for Raikkonen, the last driver to win the World Championship for Ferrari, would represent a dramatic change in recent policy for Ferrari given Alonso has been their clear number one driver since arriving in 2010.
Ferrari are expected to make a decision over the identity of Alonso's 2014 team-mate this coming week and the Spaniard has made clear he would be more than happy for Massa to stay on.
Asked by Sky Sports F1 if he felt the other contenders for the seat would prove as helpful to him as the Brazilian has, Alonso replied: "I think so because this is Ferrari. There is not any super power in terms of driver decision or anything like that, it's the same for Felipe and it's the same for myself if it arrives the moment that I need to help another team-mate to win the championship.
"We will see what happens. It's a team decision. Obviously I have huge respect for Felipe so I don't want to talk about any [other] names. If the team decide to keep Felipe I will be only happy."

With Tablets And iPods Added, Apple Takes 3 Of Top 4 Mobile Device Spots Ranked By Ad Impressions, Says Millennial

Mobile ad platform Millennial Media has released their latest Mobile Mix report, covering Q2 2013, and the company is changing how things work this time around by changing its “Top 20 Phones” list to a “Top 20 Devices,” and adding tablets into the mix along with smartphones and feature phones. This resulted in Apple going from occupying just a single spot at the top of the chart, to taking three of the top four places, thanks to the presence of the iPod touch and iPad in addition to the iPhone.
Samsung still occupies the number two spot with its Galaxy S phones, which is unchanged from the pervious quarter, and gains some additional presence in the top ten thanks to the appearance of the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Note in the top 10 list. HTC and Motorola lose some representation on the list, however and Amazon debuts with the Kindle Fire ranking number eight overall for impressions.
Apart from the changes in the Top 20 Devices, the rest of Millennial’s methodology remains unchanged. So Apple taking home 39.3 percent of the overall impressions broken down by device manufacturer, with Samsung following up in second place with 26.1 percent, really does represent a nearly 3 percentage point increase for Apple, and a slight dip for Samsung. HTC falls below LG in fifth place, too so there has been some shift between the quarters, probably attributable to HTC One’s failure to truly do much to impress consumers. The Apple bump is harder to explain, since a refresh is imminent and no new iOS hardware was introduced between Q1 and Q2 2013.
Apple’s share of overall impressions as measured by mobile OS also jumped. The result is an 8 percentage point bump for Apple’s iOS in terms of OS share of overall ad impressions, compared to a 5 percentage point increase for Android. Millennial says tablet impressions continue to grow, so Apple leading that market could be what’s helping iOS increase its share. Android is still growing, however, with both the top dogs the big losers here were Windows and BlackBerry, both of which saw impression share dive. That is completely understandable given the increasing importance of tablets. BlackBerry shed over half its share, for instance, dropping from 15 percent to 7 percent of overall mobile ads served.
Tablets continue to be led by iOS devices, so the iPad is winning out. Android accounts for 44 percent of tablets seen by Millennial’s ads, but that’s actually down just slightly from the previous quarter’s report. Perhaps surprisingly, the Google Nexus 10 saw considerable growth (impressions climbed 51 percent sequentially from Q1) while the Nexus 7 held things steady at 7 percent of all Android tablet impressions. The new Nexus 7 might help that number rise in Millennial’s next reporting period.
Regional growth of specific manufacturers point to Samsung doing something right in specific market segments, with that manufacturer growing its share of impressions in the EMEA region by 13 percentage points from 18 to 31 percent. Apple raised its own impressions just one percentage point to 42 percent during the same time period, but iOS as a platform rose from 23 percent to 34 percent in the Asia-Pacific region year over year, while Android shed 4 percentage points (down to 60 percent overall) and BlackBerry did the same, with Windows falling off the map near completely.
The big change here is in terms of how Millennial presents and counts devices. Tablets now make up a far more important category than feature phones when it comes to mobile advertising, so it’s natural to see those included here alongside those older-style devices. Plus, it does a much better job of showing why Apple continues to dominate overall in ad impressions among mobile device makers than it did previously, when Millennial showed just the lonely iPhone atop the chart as the sole hardware from the Mac maker.
