The Delta State born singer/ humanitarian Anny teamed with an ensemble of renowned Nigerian inspirational artists all for one purpose, to lend a voice in support of peace, love and unity beyond ethnicity, race or tribe. The song “Peace around The World” was released earlier in the year to a wide acceptance across all age, gender and demography before a remix and video remake became great necessity.
The video remake is greatly inspired by the growing state of human induced disasters, insecurity and terror; and hence becomes a project themed “A Campaign Song for world peace”. The campaign is supported and endorsed by the NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (NDDC).

Airtel Nigeria has introduced a special N50 denominated recharge, which offers the most talk-time and SMS for N50, thus empowering customers and making it possible for them to enjoy and benefit from every naira they spend.

Lagos Govt warns TB Joshua not to accept Ebola victims in his church

The Lagos state government has warned pastor TB Joshua of Synagogue Church of All Nations not to accept Ebola victims if they come to him for healing.

According to The Nation officials of Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Federal Government, led by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, visited him seeking his cooperation in ensuring victims of the deadly virus are not brought to his church for healing. Synagogue is a popular destination for sick people who go there for divine healing.

"We have our strategies that we intend to share with you. Again, we need to know the resources you have here because whether it is one or two cases, if they are allowed to get out, it is a major problem. We are here to work together on how to contain this disease,” Idris told the cleric." Dr Idris reportedly told Joshua. Continue...

Weeks after 2face Idibia slammed a N100million lawsuit against soft-sell magazine, Icon Weekly, after they published a story claiming he had cheated on his wife and impregnated a banker,  the magazine has apologized to the singer and have withdrawn their story, accepting that it was a false publication.

Unknown gunmen abduct Bayelsa speaker’s brother

The younger brother of Bayelsa State House of Assembly Speaker, Konbowei Benson, Iniokpoemi Benson was abducted by unknown gunmen around 3am early this morning Monday August 4th at his residence in Korokorosei community in Southern Ijaw local government area.

Benson is the immediate past chairman of the community's development committee. This is the third high profile kidnap in the space of two weeks in the state.

Patoo Abraham has become famous for fighting for the rights of prostitutes, but what she - and those she is trying to help - do to make a living is illegal and frowned upon by many in the country.  

Abraham is not only proud of her profession but is also campaigning to ensure that prostitution is legalised and that sex workers are respected in Africa's most populous country. 

The 48-year-old has led a couple of protests in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, demanding the rights of prostitutes in a country where sex vendors suffer physical harm at the hands of their punters. Continue...

US doctors say ‘secret serum’ helped save lives of American Ebola patients

So wait, the US may have found a cure to Ebola? And if they have, will they come help patients of this dreaded disease in Africa? The article below was written by Dr. Sanjay Gupta for CNN and they are saying an experimental drug called ZMapp likely saved the lives of 2 US missionary doctors (pictured above) who contracted the disease while working in Liberia...see report below from CNN..

Three vials containing an experimental drug stored at subzero temperatures were flown into Liberia last week in a last-ditch effort to save two American missionary workers who had contracted Ebola, according to a source familiar with details of the treatment.

The drug appears to have worked, sources say. Dr. Kent Brantly's and Nancy Writebol's conditions significantly improved after receiving the medication, sources say. Brantly was able to walk into Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after being evacuated to the United States last week, and Writebol is expected to arrive in Atlanta on Tuesday.

On July 22, Brantly woke up feeling feverish. Fearing the worst, Brantly immediately isolated himself. Writebol's symptoms started three days later. A rapid field blood test confirmed the infection in both of them after they had become ill with fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

It's believed both Brantly and Writebol, who worked with the aid organization Samaritan's Purse, contracted Ebola from another health care worker at their hospital in Liberia, although the official Centers for Disease Control and Prevention case investigation has yet to be released.

A representative from the National Institutes of Health contacted Samaritan's Purse in Liberia and offered the experimental treatment, known as ZMapp, for the two patients, according to the source.

The drug was developed by the biotech firm Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc., which is based in San Diego. The patients were told that this treatment had never been tried before in a human being but had shown promise in small experiments with monkeys.

According to company documents, four monkeys infected with Ebola survived after being given the therapy within 24 hours after infection. Two of four other monkeys that started therapy within 48 hours after infection also survived. One monkey that was not treated died within five days of exposure to the virus.

Brantly and Writebol were aware of the risk of taking a new, little understood treatment and gave informed consent, according to two sources familiar with the care of the missionary workers. In the monkeys, the experimental serum had been given within 48 hours of infection. Brantly didn't receive it until he'd been sick for nine days.

Israel and Palestine agree to 72-hour cease-fire

The Isreali and Palestinian governments have agreed to a 3-day cease-fire beginning from tomorrow August 5th. The 3-day cease fire, which was proposed by Egypt, will be a "pure humanitarian cease-fire," with no military action.

Both governments are expected to sit tomorrow and deliberate on their terms and conditions for a total cease fire.
