Caverton Helicopter expatriate manager resigns over unpaid salary of Nigerian staff
Surendra Bhagwandass, a Base Maintenance Manager at Caverton Helicopters, a company that has contracts spanning from Shell to Total, said he became frustrated that while he was being well taken care of, Nigerian workers were poorly paid and their salaries were sometimes delayed. He said it was a security breach not to pay people who work for oil companies.
“Shame on you guys,” he told Caverton management in an email distributed to most staff and obtained by a PM News correspondent.
“(I) heard from the people I work with that they are not paid for the festive season. This is a security breach as I now feel uncomfortable to travel and work with, while you guys have a merry time. Please have a heart as these people have family while you all enjoy the best. Being with your family and Happy.“You all break record as the only Company in the World not to pay your workers.
“Shame on you guys,” the expatriate said.

How to Flash (Install/Upgrade) a Blackberry Operating System

To Install/Upgrade a Blackberry Operating System (OS):
1. You need to install the Blackberry Desktop Manager, it comes in a

2. An additional software to download is BBSAK, is to backup trusty
3rd party Blackberry applications and restore them among other
functions >>Download it Here<<.
3. Lastly, you need to download the version of the OS you want to install. A simple way of getting this is by visiting ww.blackberryrocks.com/blackberry-os and trace a suitable OS from there.
Before moving to further process, you should have everything you need to perform the installation by now. Checklist:
- Current OS downloaded and installed on your windows PC like any other normal software
- Latest DM downloaded and installed on your windows PC
- BBSAK downloaded and installed on your Windows PC as well
1. Now Connect your blackberry phone to your PC with your stock blackberry USB cord, and fire up BBSAK.
BBSAK will automatically detect your Blackberry. Once BBSAK
detected your BB, hit the “Backup Apps” button to backup your 3rd party
applications that have been installed on your Blackberry.
2. Be patient, this process will take up to five minutes max. When it’s done, hit “OK” and exit out the program.
3. Launch Blackberry Desktop Manager (DM). Click “Device”, then
select “Backup and Restore”, once you are in it, click “advanced” and
back up the settings you would to backup. Only backup your calendar,
service books, bbm contact list, and contacts because if you are backing
up other settings from the old device, when you load them onto the new
OS, the extra old settings might not compatible with the new OS. Once
the backup progress is done, exit out of DM.
4. Launch BBSAK again; make sure that your DM is not running in the
background. Click “Wipe Device” this time. It will wipe out everything
on your BB. Once the wiping process is done, the phone will reboot
itself. Then you will see a “507 error”. Please do not freak out, this
is normal; it means you are doing the thing right. “507 error” means
your phone OS is corrupted or there isn’t one. To be sure that your
phone is wiped clean, click “wipe device” again, the program will
perform the same wiping process like the first time you did. Again, the
phone will reboot and the 507 error will appear as expected.

The physical effects

Hundreds of half-n*de women in Peremabiri community in Bayelsa State, Niger Delta, yesterday, staged a protest against non-implementation of an existing agreement by Shell.
The women disrupted movement of workers into the oil platforms and boat houses operated by Shell in the area, alleging non-implementation of the memorandum of understanding Shell entered into with the community.
The protesting women tied red cloth to block the entrance to the oil platform located within the community.
They further alleged that Shell had failed to redeem the two-year-old promise to replace a faulty community generator, renovate existing community school and provide potable water for its host community.
Some of the women carried placards with various inscriptions such as “Shell: Give us Light”, “Implement MoU or go”, “We need water, Light, School for our children” among others.
The protesters claimed that the oil firm had adopted delay tactics to avoid providing the amenities which they said were time-bound.
Reacting to the development, the spokesman for Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Precious Okolobo, urged the aggrieved women to adopt the spelt-out channel of addressing their grievances.

Victor Moses Is A Big Failure - Liverpool Legend Speaks!
Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge feels Nigeria international Victor Moses has failed to live up to expectations since joining Liverpool on loan from Chelsea last year.
Aldridge has even suggested that it would actually be in everybody’s best interests if the loan agreement between the Merseyside club and Chelsea was cancelled.
“I don’t know whether Chelsea would agree to take him back as they’ve got a big squad but it might be in everyone’s best interests if the loan is cancelled,” Aldridge wrote in his column this week.
“If Moses wants to stay at Liverpool until the end of the season then he needs to buck his ideas up. He’s in a precarious position. He needs to realise that and start fighting for a shirt,” added Aldridge.
Moses has breached the opposition defence just once since he joined Liverpool last September and that goal was scored in his debut fixture against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
Aldridge feels that Moses is squandering a glorious opportunity and he can’t quite put his finger on why the Nigerian has not thrived at Anfield.

Former teacher Ethel Anderson, 31, (pictured above) was found guilty and sentenced to 38 years in prison in December 2013 for having sex with her 12 year old student.
The married mother of one had sex with one of her students, whose identity is being kept secret because of his age (he was 12 at the time). The alleged abuse started in 2011 just one month after the teacher and the minor started a tutoring session in her home. During her trial last year, the boy, now 14, told the court that she started by kissing him and progressed to giving him oral sex.
"I felt like she was a girlfriend, I loved her and she said that I was her boyfriend and she loved me. She would rub on my legs, kiss on my ears, neck and stuff like that. We would tongue kiss. I lost my virginity to her. I told her to stop but she said she wanted me bad" The boy's angry mother told the former 'teacher of the year', who worked as a language arts teacher at Mango Elementary School, in Florida, that she took her boy's innocence.

President Jonathan asked CBN Governor Lamido Sanusi to resign?
President Goodluck Jonathan has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to resign immediately on the grounds that the letter Sanusi wrote to him on the unremitted $49.8 billion oil revenue to the Federation Account, was leaked to former President Olusegun Obasanjo by the CBN governor.
But Sanusi who has denied leaking the letter to anyone, has refused to resign and informed the president during the heated telephone exchange that he could only be removed by two-thirds of the Senate as required by law.
THISDAY learnt that the president had called Sanusi and accused him of
leaking the letter to Obasanjo, which enabled the latter to use it as
one of many allegations he levelled against Jonathan in his letter
titled: “Before It is Too Late”.
The president, who a source in the presidency said was very angry and
was not prepared to allow Sanusi to proceed on his terminal leave in
March, asked him to tender his resignation before the close of business
last Tuesday.
However, Sanusi denied that he had leaked his letter to Obasanjo and
made it abundantly clear he would not be forced out, except he is
removed by two-thirds of the Senate.
He also told the president that the letter was available in the
presidential villa, available in the finance ministry and available in
the central bank and wondered how he (Sanusi) could have leaked the
letter, which was so widely available, to a former two-term president of
Nigeria who has his people all over the place.

'400 Nigerian students Waste Away in Chinese prisons' -Association of Nigerian Students in China Reveals!
In this interview with Vanguard Learning, he talks about the difference between Chinese and Nigerian education, discriminations Nigerians face and number of Nigerian students in prison. Excerpts:
How do you think China’s educational system is useful to Nigeria’s need?
To start with, China is by far ahead of Nigeria in terms of educational facilities and infrastructure. So, I think the availability of better facilities/infrastructure will avail China-trained Nigerian students the necessary expertise and skills, especially in terms of practical knowledge and its application which is lacking or inadequate back home.
Secondly, with China’s rapid investments in most African countries (Nigeria inclusive), having Nigerians that have passed through the Chinese education system will go a long way in helping the country achieve a better synergy with Chinese investors. Such people will have a better understanding of the Chinese system, work ethics etc.
Presently, there are over 1,000 Nigerian students studying in China that have identified with the Association during the last tour we conducted in conjunction with the Nigerian Embassy, and most of them are on self sponsorship.
Why do most Chinese students prefer studying abroad, preferably in America and Europe?
I think this is driven, to a large extent, by the quest of most Chinese to learn and speak English, especially the younger generation. I have also come to a conclusion based on my interactions with some Chinese students, that they see America as a benchmark in everything, so they have this feeling that studying in Europe or America will help them achieve their aim of being able to learn and speak English as well as give them better prospects and opportunities.
For example, a recent analysis I watched on CCTVNEWS shows that a considerable number of graduates, especially with specialty in arts, find it difficult to secure jobs related to their fields or are unemployed. Another factor is low income. Like I said earlier, they have this notion that things are better in America and Europe and when they study in these places, they can secure high income jobs.
Is it true that most students who come here to study actually come to do other things?
It is true that some of the students who came to China to study end up doing other things that have, in some cases, led to imprisonment either as a result of fraud, drugs, promiscuity, etc. For example, some usually come to China under the guise of studying Chinese language, but they quit and go into social vices and end up being arrested and sent to prison.
But it would be fair to say only a handful of students compared to the large population of good Nigerian students are found wanting and have succeeded in putting the multitude of the Nigerian people and even students in an uncomfortable situation and given the country a bad image
