Arsenal have signed goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

The Czech first-choice has penned a four-year deal at the Emirates Stadium. The deal has been reported in the region of £10m.

The 33-year-old made over 400 appearances during an 11-year successful career at Stamford Bridge, which saw him win the Premier League’s Golden Glove award on three occasions, as well as winner’s medal in the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, Fa Cup, League Cup and the Community Shield.

Arsenal Wenger said: “”Petr Cech is a player that I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased that he has decided to join us.”
Cech added: “When Arsene Wenger spoke to me about his ambitions for this club, and how he saw me as part of this team, the decision was clear.”

The goalkeeper said he could not accommodate having to seat on the bench at Chelsea any longer, having gone down the pecking order in west London following the arrival of Thibaut Courtois.

Cech made only six appearances last season, as Chelsea lifted the English championship and the League Cup.

The former LOSC Lille goalkeeper talked about wanting to “finish his career” at Stamford Bridge in a letter to Chelsea fans, but admitted it became imperative he moved on for “new challenges.”

He is the Gunners’ first signing of the summer. FA Cup holders Arsenal face Chelsea in the Community Shield on 2 August and Cech could face his former team-mates at Wembley on that occasion.
