Lagos governnor Raji Fashola comes to the aid of ailing Pa Kasumu

Great news for ailing veteran actor, Kayode Odumosu popularly known as Pa Kasumu, who has been battling with serious liver and heart related ailments for a while now and in desperate need of N12m. According to a report by Encomium mag, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has taken up his treatment after watching Pa Kasumu's interview on Channels TV last Friday October 11th.

A source told the magazine

"It was after the governor saw Pa Kasumu on Channels TV on Friday evening that he texted that his case should be taken up immediate" 

When asked the exact amount the governor was planning to donate to Pa Kasumu, the source said

"It is not a specific amount at the moment. Nigeria Becomes Third LargestUser Of Facebook In Africa; 36th In The World

Nigeria is the third largest user of Facebook in Africa in the latest ranking of countries using the social interactive site on the internet by the World Bank.
Tagged African Facebook Users in 2013, the figures as at March, 2013, showed Nigeria having 5, 357, 500 to take the third place in Africa as South Africa came second with 5, 534, 160 users and Egypt led with 13, 010, 580.

Facebook: Nigerian users 3rd in Africa

The World Bank which said it took up the study as part of efforts to understand the revolution taking place on the internet, put the total figure of users in Africa at 50, 386, 760.
In the report, Morocco came close to Nigeria with 5, 250, 340 users while Algeria has 4, 322, 820 users and Tunisia has 3, 436, 720 users.
Also, the report said Kenya has got a total of 1, 886, 560 while Ghana has a total of 1, 465, 560 users of Facebook.
The Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the report, has the least number of users among the countries under study with a total of 891, 140 users.
Comparing the figures with other countries of the world, the report showed that Egypt, though the largest in Africa, is 20th country in the world rating it with Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia and Japan.
South Africa is 32nd largest user of Facebook worldwide and was rated with Saudi Arabia, Romania and Ecuador.
Nigeria, third in Africa is 36th in the world and was rated with Belgium and Morocco.
Across the world, India has 62, 963, 440 users of Facebook, Indonesia has 47, 165, 080 users while Mexico has 39, 945, 620 users.

He granted an interview to reporters on Wednesday which was published in Punch today where he talked about his career and his relationship with Genevieve. Singer, Dapo Oyebanji, aka D’banj, finally opened up on his love life in a rare meeting with journalists in Lagos on Wednesday.

The self-styled Kokomaster was clearly in his elements as he talked at length, amid occasional bouts of laughter, about his career and other issues that were important to him. One of the subjects was about his rumoured relationship with Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

Judging by the manner in which the actress’ name kept popping off his lips, it was obvious that D’banj had a very soft spot for her.

Aware that the grapevine had bristled with the rumour that he was romantically involved with Genevieve, ever since she appeared in the 2010 video of his hit song, ‘Fall in Love’, the singer said the actress had played a role in his success.

“Apart from the fact that she is my friend, she has been a part of my success. There is no way you are going to tell my story that Genevieve’s name will not come up because she featured in my biggest song of all time, Fall in Love. So if E True Story comes to Nigeria to interview me, she will definitely be called upon to tell my story,” he said.

As if to confirm that there was more to his relationship with the actress than he had always admitted, D’banj added, 

“I would love to have Genevieve as my wife.  We never can tell what God plans for us in the future. I have studied her and I realised that anyone that has her as his woman has found himself a treasure. Just like the Bible says, any man who finds a wife, finds a good thing.”

On remaining relevant, he said:

“So much has happened in the last 18 months and I am very thankful to God. By the Grace of God, I have remained relevant for nearly a decade in the music industry and I have released hit songs every year. “My career is barely 10 years old. But with the success I have achieved so far, it feels like three decades already. Within my first 10 years as a musician, I have recorded the biggest song and shot the most viewed music video of all time, ‘Oliver Twist’. I must say I am humbled and getting ready to take over,” he said.

Without mincing words, D’banj noted that the history of his career and the resulting accomplishments will be incomplete without mentioning his humble beginning with the defunct Mo’Hits Records. The mere mention of his erstwhile colleagues, including Don Jazzy, seemed to awaken nostalgic feelings in him.

“If I say I don’t miss Don Jazzy, I am lying. I have spent the better part of my career with him. I was married to him in a way (laughs). So I miss everything about Mo’Hits: the family, the movement, and the vibe of being in the studio with him. I miss the jokes and the arguments, but I have since keyed into the notion that nothing can stop a moving train.

“Nevertheless we can always do music together. The track, ‘Top of the World’ was produced by a Grammy Award Winner. The songs ‘Finally’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me Nonsense’ was produced by my producer while ‘Oliver Twist’ was produced by Don Jazzy. So, why won’t I have him on my 10 years anniversary album?

“I have never said I am a musician; I am an entertainer. Some people say I can pick up a microphone and become a comedian. Therefore nobody should come and ask if I want to go into acting because they should know I am already an actor. It depends on when the right script and concept lands in my hands.

“For now, I am concerned about achieving new things and breaking new grounds. By the time I enter Hollywood, I believe that I’ll become as successful as I have been as a singer. The movie titled ‘I am Banga Lee’, starring Genevieve, to be released in 2014, won’t be a bad idea,” He said.

The leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, Muhajid Asari-Dokubo has joined the swelling rank of private university proprietors with his establishment of a university in the neighbouring Republic of Benin.

Mr. Asari-Dokubo, who already owns a soccer academy in the West African country and another one in Abuja, said the university, which will be known as King Amachree African University, KAAU, had already been accredited to commence degree programmes beginning September 2014.

34% of Nigerians believe indecent dressing is main cause of rape

The NOI Polls, which is an opinion polling and research organisation, established by the current Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and named after her, yesterday released results from its poll carried out in January 2013, in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

NOI Polls revealed:

“In order to commemorate this event and honour the girl child this special day, NOI Polls Limited released one of the polls we conducted in the first quarter of the year 2013, which was focused on the challenges faced by the girl child in Nigeria and indeed the world over as a result of the incidence of rape among women in the society. 

34 percent of the participants believed that indecent dressing was the main cause of rape in the society; 18 percent believed unemployment was the cause; nine percent believed it was caused by lack of moral values and another nine percent believed it was caused by the inability to control sexual urges; seven percent said it was caused by faulty upbringing. Five percent of the participants believed rape was caused by illiteracy about women’s rights, ungodliness and bad company.
