How To Check if Your iPhone is Factory Unlocked or Not

One of the things about purchasing an iPhone
from another person and not directly from vendor is that sometimes they may be locked to a network and so other network SIM card won't work on it.
Factory unlocked iPhone is more pricey than one that is locked to a network.

Well, there is a easy way to check if the iPhone you want to buy is factory unlocked or not.

METHOD 1

One method is to remove the current SIM in the device and out in another SIM from another network and see if it displays network bars.
For example, put in a SIM from say AT&T and One from Verizon and see if network bars are displayed.


METHOD 2

Another method is to use an application called iTools.
On installing iTunes and iTools to your computer and connecting the iPhone to your computer, you can tell if the device is factory unlocked or not.
Launch iTools and the first page you would see will tell you that your device is activated. By click on view details, another window will come up and give you the kind of activation your iPhone is on.
From the image below, ActivationState is
WildcardActivated.
WildcardActivated means that the device is factory unlocked and can use any SIM card


METHOD 3

Finally, you can use web services to know if your iPhone is factory unlocked or not.
This you can do by going to this PAGE and putting your 15 digits IMEI number into a search bar and click enter. It will return with the unlock or lock status as shown in the image below.


With this information telling you if your iPhone is locked to a particular network or factory unlocked, you would know how much to pay for the device.

You would also save yourself some headache when you put in a SIM that is not intended and worrying about network bars not showing.

Mtn Ghana Internet Settings WAP, GPRS

wrote the first post on how to manually configure Mtn Ghana internet settings on your phone but it seems not everybody got it clear. I am making it clearer for you today so you can be able to configure your Mtn internet settings on your phone. It doesn’t take a tech savvy to be able to do this. All you need is to understand the language of your phone(mostly in English ) and following the steps I am about to show.

Manual Mtn Ghana Internet Settings Configuration

Always make sure you have enough credits on your phone before attempting this. This is to ensure you get internet access on your phone when you’ve done the settings correctly. If you don’t have credits on your phone and even if you’ve done the settings correctly, you wouldn’t be able to access the internet and you might think the settings didn’t work.

The default way of configuring Mtn internet access on your phone is to dial *686# (or send a blank text to 686) and send. Wait for the response and if you phone can be configured automatically, you would receive a message and just follow the instructions you received in the message.

To those whose phones can’t be configured automatically, here are the settings

Mtn Ghana Internet Settings Configuration for China Phones

When I say china phones, I hope you understand me. Most smartphones and other mobile phones comes from China but I am talking about the ¢30 – ¢90 dual sim phones been sold all around the country.

Go to menu –> Connections —> Sim network (select mtn sim number, so if mtn is your sim 1, then select sim 1) –> Options –> New Connections –> Auth type (select or type none) –>Access Point or APN (type internet and save) –> Homepage (type http://www.google.com). Leave the remaining fields as they were and save it. You might be required to name your new settings, if yes just name it as Mtn. Make the new settings default and you are good to go.

Mtn Ghana Internet Settings Configuration for Sony Ericsson Phones

Go to menu –> Settings –> connectivity –> data communication –> data accounts –> new account –> select PS Data –> name ( type mtn) –> Apn or access point name ( type internet). Leave the remaining fields as they were and save. The go to menu –> Settings –> connectivity –> internet settings –> internet profiles –> select the one you just created (the name would be mtn on the list). save and you are good to go

Mtn Ghana Internet Settings Configuration for Nokia Phones

Nokia phones internet configuration is a bit difficult. If you can’t do it yourself, let somebody do it for you.

Go to menu –> settings –> connectivity –> packet data –> packet data connection ( select always on) then go back to packet data settings –> active access point –> Go to edit active access point –> packet data access point (enter internet and save). The go to menu –> settings –> configuration –> personal configuration settings –> Add new –> fill in the values, leave username and password nil. Go to preferred access point , select the one you’ve created and save. That’s all

Mtn Ghana Internet Settings Configuration for Android Phones

Go to menu –> settings –> wireless networks –> mobile network settings –> use packet data (enable this option to enable internet access via your sim network). Then go one step back and select access point names –> click menu button –> select New APN –> name (enter mtn) –> APN (type internet) –> Auth type (select none) –> APN type –>select internet. Save your new settings. That’s all you need to enable mtn internet access on your android phone.

Internet settings for Airtel Ghana

This applies for Zain which is now Airtel.
This procedure is targeted to china phones or any other phone that takes manual settings.
Follow the procedures below to set up your phone to access the internet.
The instructions are divided into two.

FIRST: DATA ACCOUNT SETTINGS

1. Go to services in your phone menu and select data account.

2. Click on any item there to edit (or add new if your phone has the option)

3. set the NAME to Ghana Airtel or any other name suitable for you

4. Set the APN or access point to WAP

5. Leave every other option blank and choose OK to save. You can now proceed to the second part.

SECOND: INTERNET SERVICE SETTINGS
1. Go to internet settings in the services menu

3. Choose edit account

4. If asked to select a Sim, select the Sim which contains your MTN

5. Choose an account to edit (one that you don't use).

6. Name: Ghana Airtel

7. Homepage: www.linztechgroup.blogspot.com  (or any other URL)

8. Data Account: choose the one we created in the previous part.

9. Connection type: choose HTTP (even if it already chosen) Use Proxy: yes Proxy Address: 010.093.085.088 Proxy Port: 9401

10. Leave all other things empty.
11. Save it and choose activate. Congrats, you're done!!!!!

19:00 - Elikem speaks out about putting Angelo up for possible Eviction this week. "Angelo is one of the people I'd like to see leave with the money if not me. In anyway, I don't really care right now if he takes it personal and doesn't talk to me for the rest of his life".

18:45 - Eviction Diary sessions commence with Bimp who says he has been Chasing a better tomorrow. His last words are "one love, one blood, one Africa."

18:10 - "I'm so nervous, I can'teat properly man," Dillish declares. Elikem says she might not be leaving tonight. "But if it's two people going I'm in trouble," Dillish adds.
