Mbong Amata speaks on crashed marriage, says life happened
She spoke for the first time about her ended marriage in an interview with Encomium mag this week. She described the father of her 5 year old daughter as a friend for life.
The actress said she is currently not in any relationship and getting married again wasn't in the cards for her at the moment as her main focus now is to raise her daughter and her career. When asked what really happened to their marriage, she said 'life happened'"I have a lot of great and fond memories. I had more fun than bad memories with my former husband. I was first married to my friend before a husband. That was why we were civil enough to know that even if the marriage didn't work, we were still friends and that is the bedrock of whatever it is that we have. We are connected for life. We have a child together. Yeah, we are cool, He is my guy. Jeta is a great man, fantastic dad but life has to move on".

UNILAG to name 15-storey female hostel building after Mama Peace
Mama Peace is expected to be in Lagos on Friday, Feb 22, for the foundation laying of the project which is expected to gulp N3billion.

Dangote woos Ibeju-Lekki indigines with cash & cars to release land for his refinery project
Billionaire businessman and Africa's richest man,
Aliko Dangote in company of the Lagos state
Governor, Babatunde Fashola was at the Ibeju-Lekki
axis of Lagos yesterday Sunday Feb. 9th to woo the
inhabitants of the community to give up their lands
which is expected to be used to develop Dangote's
proposed Refinery and Petrochemical Project, which
is one of the Lagos Free Trade Zone Projects.
According to Sahara Reporters, cars and cash gifts
were used to lure the people which they refused but
was accepted by their village heads. Last week the
state government had tried using the police and other
security agencies to evict the people from the land

Another ASUU Strike Looms As LecturersAccuse FG Of Deception
Barely two months after the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), called
off its nearly-six-month strike, the
Nigerian university system may soon be
thrown into another round of crisis.
ASUU yesterday, in Ibadan, the Oyo State
capital, alerted the nation of an alleged
non-compliance by the Federal
Government with the agreement signed
between both parties, last December,
prior to ASUU¡¯s decision to call off the
industrial action.
Accusing the President Goodluck
Jonathan administration of breaching its
agreement with the union, ASUU
pleaded with Nigerians to prevail on the
Federal Government to see to the
implementation of the contract,
particularly the aspect that deals with
funding of universities, so as to prevent
another round of strikes.
ASUU¡¯s National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola
Aremu, who made the appeal on behalf
of the union, alleged that the Federal
Government had not kept its own side
of the bargain.
Aremu recalled that the government had
promised to fund universities, but
wondered why, despite the assurances,
it was yet to do so.
The Federal Government recently
released N200 billion to the universities
before ASUU called off its strike, with an
expectation that a total sum of N1.3
trillion would be released in the next six
years.
The resolution was signed between
ASUU and the Federal Government on
December 11, 2013, in the presence of
the President of the Nigeria Labour
Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed
Omar.

Valentines Day
Stanley Ngara 36, from thika town in Nairobi,
Kenya popularly known as King of Condoms is a
programme officer with Liverpool VCT, Care and
Treatment, he is known in Nairobi for popularizing
the use of condoms.
Ngara and other health activists will promote the
condom campaign as Kenya marks the
International Condom Day (ICD) on Thursday,
February 13, 2014, with free distribution of 1 million
condoms in the city.

South Africa is to bid for the 2024 Olympics
and also wants to host the Commonwealth
Games two years before that, the country's
sports minister Fikile Mbabula said.
"The biggest fish
to catch is the 2024 Olympics," the Business Day
newspaper on Tuesday quoted Mbabula as saying.
"Sport plays a role in terms of infrastructure
development," he told reporters, adding South
Africa's president Jacob Zuma had already indicated
the country was ready to host the Games.
It is a major shift in policy for South Africa who last
year said the cost to host an Olympics would be too
high. Cape Town lost out in the bid for the 2004
Olympics in the first attempt by an African city to
host the Games.

Boko Haram kills over 40 in attack on Konduga Village in Borno

| Over 40 people were killed yesterday evening Tuesday Feb. 11th in Konduga village in Borno state by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram. The gunmen arrived the village around 5:30pm yesterday and started shooting people. Several houses and a secondary school were burnt down according to security officials who visited the village after the attack. One security personnel said he counted at least 40 bodies following the unexpected attack. The attackers met no resistance from security agencies as they carried out their deed. Military men reportedly arrived after the men had gone and have taken over the security situation in the area. more pix below.... |
